THIS RECORDING IS TOTALLY AMAZING....Frank Catalano is playing very open original ideas that are his own. That's one of the many things I always loved about his playing.This cd release is a showcase for the diversity of this great group of current jazz's most complimentary soloists. Frank's robust tone on the title track is countered by his sensitive interpretations of fresh lines played from the heart. Always a propulsive soloist,he explores his instrument's range fully developing consistently interesting solos. The musicians are completely comfortable with the material, and each performance is definitive, easily rewarding repeated listening. The music benefits from superior recording quality as well. For those who need it-It not only is a perfect introduction to Frank and Jimmy, but will reward and delight long time fans of these great musicians and their music. Highly recommend!
